How to Modify Your HP 15T Laptop

How to Modify Your HP 15T Laptop

The HP 15T laptop is one of the best in its price range, but what if you’re not happy with the default hardware?

In this guide, you’ll learn how to adjust your HP 15T laptop to fit your needs better. First, we’ll look at how to add additional RAM without voiding your warranty.

Next, we’ll show you how to add an extra hard drive. You need more storage space and don’t want to worry about running out of room on the go.

Battery Removal

Before removing the battery, you need to remove the bottom cover of your HP 15T laptop. If there are no screws, you may be able to remove them with a thin, flexible piece of plastic like a credit card.

Be cautious not to damage any of its components or circuits. After removing the bottom cover, loosen (or, if necessary, remove) all cables connecting the keyboard and motherboard.

It will give you more room to manoeuvre when dismantling; however, be sure not to pull too hard on these cables as they can be damaged. Here you will learn more about the HP 15T laptop dw300 .

Remove Hard Drive and Memory

To remove the hard drive, turn the laptop over and unscrew or remove all the screws holding the hard drive.

Remove cables or plastic straps, then lift and slide out your hard drive. If you are replacing it with another hard drive, install it by following these steps in reverse.

To remove the drive, press down on both ends of your USB drive while pulling it out of its slot. Then, replace it with a new stick by sliding one end simultaneously and snapping them into place.

Graphics Card Removal

The 15T laptop from HP is designed with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics card. Unfortunately, removing it requires a complicated disassembly that could damage your computer, so stop here if you’re unsure how to do it.

Unscrew and remove all the screws on the battery cover, the cover and the palm rest. Put them aside for later. Then, use a small flathead screwdriver or spudger to pry up your laptop’s keyboard frame and pry out the four latches that hold it in place.

keyboard Disassembly

The keyboard is one of those components that you can easily replace if it stops working. Unfortunately, there are many reasons your laptop keyboard might fail, and there is no way of knowing exactly when it will happen.

Fortunately, there are several ways to spot problems early, so you’re not caught off guard. A telltale of trouble is intermittent response from your keys, such as when specific keys work intermittently, but others never respond.

CPU Cooling Unit Removal

Your laptop will get hot if you live in a hot climate or tend to run demanding programs. However, too much heat can damage the internal components of your computer, so keeping it cool is essential.

Make sure you have a proper cooling unit (laptop fans, heat sinks, etc.) before attempting any modifications. Then, by taking it apart, find out how the cooling unit works on your HP 15T laptop.
