Hulkman Alpha 85 S Jump Starter Review

Hulkman Alpha 85 S Jump Starter Review

Hulkman Alpha 85 s  – Since most cars today are automatic. A portable jump starter has become a necessity.

Driving a manual car has clear advantages. Not only does it require focus and attention, but it also familiarizes you with the intricacies of motorsports, such as when to shift gears or conserve the clutch and, finally, use engine braking to prolong the life of your brake pads. But there’s another benefit you don’t get with an automatic. You can start a car without cables.

If you’ve ever run out of battery in a manual car, you know what I’m talking about. All you need is a robust two-person set—no jumper cable required. But since the manual has become an endangered species and you can’t release the clutch on an automatic to get it to start, a starter has become an essential piece of equipment. But you should also consider your vehicle before investing in one or its battery size.

The one we have today is the Hulkman Alpha 85 S portable jump starter. It comes with a 20,000mAh battery with a 2000A peak current. It also promises 65kW fast charging for fast startup and an 18-month battery life.

The package contains a positive and negative terminal, a battery and a 110V wall charger. Although compact enough to be placed with your tool kit, it is pretty heavy and should not take lightly. It also has two LED lights as flashlights and is weather resistant as all the buttons are rubberized, and the connector housing covers keep out the elements. Right out of the box, it had a 50% charge. But we plugged it in any way to check charging times.

And also charging to 90% from 50 took under an hour, but then it goes into trickle charge mode, which takes longer. Setting from less than 20% to full charge should take about two hours. It also comes with an overcharge limiter, so leaving it plugged in won’t damage the battery.

The car we decided to test, the Alpha 85 S, was a 2008 Subaru Forester with a completely dead 700-amp battery. No crank, no light, nothing. While Hulkman Alpha 85 S qualifies to run on an 8.5-litre gas engine, we wanted to check how fast it would be for the 2.5-litre EJ boxer. So after plugging in the terminals, we powered up the Hulkman Alpha 85 S once the screen was ready.

And also the Subi’s lights started flashing after just six seconds, and the engine started in about 20 seconds, which is quite impressive for a completely dead battery. We let the battery die and start it over and over again. Although the storm broke pretty quickly, it went from 90 to 50%, but during that time, he managed to get the dead battery to crank the engine seven times before the red light flashed. And also, it indicated that the pack was heating up. Seven cranks at 40% battery consumption are pretty impressive.
